The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly attempting to rape two women he accused of stealing pepper from a farm in Osogbo.
In a statement on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, said the suspect, who does not own the farm, confronted the women at Ita-Olokan and threatened to report them to law enforcement unless they agreed to have sex with him.
According to Adeleke, one of the women managed to escape, while the suspect allegedly assaulted the other and attempted to have carnal knowledge of her. “The suspect confessed that he demanded sex from both women as the only condition not to hand them over to security personnel. When one fled, he pushed the other to the ground and lay on her, but did not complete the act, claiming he ejaculated quickly for fear the escaped woman might alert others,” she said.
The NSCDC also announced the arrest of two other suspects for allegedly encroaching on government land at Oke-Osun. The suspects were accused of destroying boundary markers and excavating sand for sale. Investigations revealed that multiple truck operators had been illegally mining sand from the land and selling it to unsuspecting buyers.
State Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities, reaffirming the NSCDC’s commitment to tackling crime across Osun.
