The Osun State Police Command has announced comprehensive security arrangements ahead of the grand finale of the annual Osun Osogbo Festival, scheduled to hold on Friday, August 8,2025.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, stated that the command has put in place stringent security measures to ensure a hitch-free celebration of the globally recognised cultural event.
According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the festival is expected to attract a large number of tourists and participants, with numerous traditional activities lined up for the grand celebration.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered effective and extensive deployment of policemen, tactical units, and all necessary logistics to ensure that no breach of peace is tolerated during the event,” the statement read.
A unit of Mobile Police personnel has also been placed on standby to respond to any unforeseen developments, the command added.
The police further advised parents and guardians to caution their wards against engaging in any form of criminal activity, including thuggery, hooliganism, or gang-related actions.
“Any person or group found in possession of arms or any offensive weapon will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly,” the statement warned.
The police command called on members of the public to remain law-abiding, cooperate with security operatives, and report any suspicious activity promptly. The following emergency lines were provided for public use:
