Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) under the ages of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have thrown their weight behind the party’s newly appointed National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, describing the APC as the only credible political force in Nigeria, while downplaying the significance of opposition parties.

Speaking during a visit to the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, said the APC remains the only viable political platform in the country. He was accompanied by Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, as well as other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), during an inspection of the party’s new ICT Data Centre.

The data centre, which is currently under construction, is aimed at strengthening the party’s internal digital infrastructure and improving organizational efficiency, particularly through an electronic registration system for members.

Dismissing criticisms from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the APC’s administration has been disastrous for Nigerians, Uzodinma responded sharply, stating: “There are only two political parties in Nigeria—the APC and others.” He described opposition parties as largely inconsequential.

Governor Ododo echoed the sentiment, affirming that APC governors are united under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. He said Uzodinma had spoken on behalf of the entire bloc of governors, affirming their collective support for the party’s direction.

Uzodinma also expressed strong confidence in Yilwatda’s leadership, praising him as a dynamic and capable leader. “He’s a tall, handsome man full of energy and intelligence,” Uzodinma quipped, adding that the governors were satisfied with the progress made in the ongoing e-registration project.

On his part, Professor Yilwatda reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning the APC as the party of choice for Nigerians. He outlined plans to modernize the party’s operations and expand its membership base through digital innovation and grassroots engagement.

“Our goal is to make the APC the first choice of all Nigerians,” he said. “With the support of the governors and other party structures, we will remove any obstacles to the party’s growth.”

He emphasized the unity within the APC’s leadership, highlighting a close and effective working relationship between the national executives and state governors. According to Yilwatda, this internal cohesion, backed by technological advancement, positions the APC far ahead of other political parties in the country.

“We are deepening our relationships daily,” he said. “This unity, combined with innovation, cements our position as Nigeria’s leading political party.”
