The Osun State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity for allegedly invading the Osun Mall in the Fakunle area of Osogbo with dangerous weapons.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the incident occurred on August 7, 2025, at about 12:30 p.m., following a tip-off from a member of the public.

Operatives from the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit reportedly swung into action and apprehended the suspects, identified as:

Olaosebikan Oriyomi, 32, popularly known as “Yahoo” and alleged leader of the group. Wale Adeyeye, 37, also known as “Mafia”, Olumide Olayemi, 33.,Omotayo Kehinde23, Ajibola Damilola, 20, and Yinka Oladipo, 18. Police said all suspects confessed to the crime.

In a separate operation on August 8, 2025, the Anti-Cultism Unit arrested one Taiwo Akeem, 28, for allegedly stealing mobile phones during the Osun-Osogbo Festival. Recovered items include two Samsung phones, one Infinix phone, one Vivo phone, and one Tecno phone.

DSP Ojelabi stated that all suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, advised parents and guardians to caution their wards against involvement in unlawful societies, warning that such activities could jeopardise their future.

He also urged victims of phone theft during the Osun-Osogbo Festival to contact the Police Public Relations Office on 09060052947 to reclaim their property.
