American-Jamaican rapper Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in a Florida prison for his involvement in a $1 million wire fraud case that also implicated his mother, Janice Turner.

Kingston, 35, best known for his 2007 hit Beautiful Girls, was convicted in March for using fake wire transfer receipts to obtain luxury goods such as high-end vehicles and designer watches. His 62-year-old mother received a five-year sentence in July, followed by probation.

The pair were arrested in May 2024 after a SWAT team raided their South Florida residence.

According to prosecutors, Kingston used social media to contact sellers of expensive items, offering exposure in exchange for goods and providing fraudulent proof of payment.

Among the items acquired were a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade and an Audemars Piguet watch.

Court documents revealed that Kingston had instructed his mother via text to “make [a] fake receipt” to postpone payments. Turner admitted to creating the false receipts, claiming she did so to protect her son.

At sentencing, Kingston apologized and showed remorse, though his request for home confinement was denied.

Turner has a prior conviction for a 2006 bank fraud case. Both she and Kingston are now facing multiple civil lawsuits from sellers claiming unpaid debts.
