The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued six Nigerian Law School students from the Yola Campus who were abducted on July 26, 2025, while travelling from Anambra State to Adamawa State.
The confirmation came through a statement issued by the Benue State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Udeme Edet, on Friday in Makurdi, the state capital.
According to Edet, the students encountered their abductors at a point along the volatile boundary between Benue and Taraba States. “Please be informed that the police have successfully rescued six law students of the Yola campus, who were abducted on July 26, 2025, while traveling from Anambra State to Adamawa State, have been safely released and united with their families this morning, August 1, 2025,” the statement read.
She further assured the public that “Police authorities confirmed the rescue, assuring the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property.”
The students, who were heading to resume at the Nigerian Law School in Yola, had been declared missing after their bus was hijacked along the Wukari-Benue route—a notorious corridor for bandit activities.
Reports indicated that their captors had initially demanded a ransom of ₦120 million and threatened to kill the victims if their demands were not met.
