A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on opposition parties to refrain from politicising the ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
His remarks come amid public backlash following the EFCC’s recent arrest of several opposition figures, which critics claim are politically motivated and aimed at weakening rival parties or forcing defections to the ruling APC.
In a statement issued in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye stressed that political affiliation should not be used as a shield against investigations into alleged financial misconduct.
“The EFCC is empowered by law to carry out investigations without bias,” he said. “Attempts to link President Tinubu to these cases are not only baseless but also unfair.”
He urged individuals under investigation to defend themselves through the proper legal channels rather than resort to what he described as political blackmail.
“President Tinubu is committed to transparency and accountability. There will be no hiding place for corruption regardless of party lines,” he added.
Oyintiloye also warned that more arrests are likely as the federal government intensifies its anti-corruption efforts.
