President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorized the immediate release of N16.7 billion to rebuild the Mokwa Bridge in Niger State, which was destroyed by flooding in May.

This announcement came from the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during his visit to Abakaliki as part of a federal tour focused on infrastructure projects and citizen engagement in the South-East region.

Idris explained that the swift approval reflects the Tinubu administration’s strong commitment to promptly addressing critical infrastructure emergencies.

He stated that the funding was approved following a joint appeal to the President, who graciously sanctioned the reconstruction of the 10-span bridge.

Idris also highlighted the importance of the bridge for regional connectivity and commended the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, for quickly dispatching engineers to assess the damage.

Umahi praised President Tinubu as a leader dedicated to national infrastructure development and revealed that the President has also approved numerous other reconstruction projects across the country.

These include a 5-span bridge in Wukari, Taraba State, the Lokoja Bridge, repairs to Afikpo Road linking Ebonyi, Abia, and Imo States, the Keffi Flyover Bridge, Jebba Bridge in Kwara, seven bridges in Edo State, and a bridge in Kebbi State.

Umahi emphasized that these projects demonstrate the President’s balanced and comprehensive approach to national development.
