President Bola Tinubu has nominated Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

According to a statement released on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Ramat, aged 39, is a seasoned electrical engineer and administrator, holding a PhD in Strategic Management among other qualifications.

Alongside Ramat, President Tinubu also forwarded the nominations of Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services at the regulatory body.

“All nominations are subject to confirmation by the Senate,” the statement clarified.

Until the confirmation process is completed, the current acting chairman of the commission will continue to oversee its operations.
