Manchester City are considering a move for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman if Brazilian winger Savinho departs the club this summer,
This is according to Insight Media Sports Arena who also reported that Tottenham Hotspur are currently in pole position to sign Savinho, though uncertainty lingers within the club’s hierarchy over the deal. While some Spurs executives are willing to back a big-money move, others remain skeptical, describing the transfer as “impossible.”
Should Spurs succeed, City are expected to turn their attention to Lookman, who has endured a difficult period at Atalanta, according to reports from Caught Offside.
“Manchester City will enter the Lookman race if Savinho departs, and Tottenham are monitoring developments due to delays in their own Savinho negotiations,” the outlet stated.
Despite an already busy summer transfer window, City’s business is far from over. The Premier League champions have added Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli, Sverre Nypan, and James Trafford, but remain in the market for further reinforcements. They have also been linked with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marc Guéhi.
Lookman, meanwhile, has become a sought-after name across Europe. Earlier this summer, he reportedly agreed personal terms with Inter Milan, only for the deal to collapse after Atalanta blocked his departure. The failed move has left the Nigerian international frustrated, opening the door for Premier League interest.
According to Caught Offside, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Aston Villa are all monitoring the forward’s situation. Chelsea, in particular, view him as a potential alternative if their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United stalls.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year, Lookman has been a standout performer since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022. He scored 20 goals last season, following up his heroics in the 2023/24 Europa League final, where he netted a historic hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.
