Manchester United and England great, Wayne Rooney, appears to be shifting focus away from management after unveiling his latest venture, a new football podcast.

The 39-year-old, who returned to punditry following his dismissal as Plymouth Argyle manager late last year, celebrated the launch of The Wayne Rooney Show this week alongside his wife, Coleen, at a BBC event.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Rooney wrote: “Great event last night celebrating the start of a new football season with @bbcsport and the launch of my new podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show! Episode 1 is out now, available on @bbciplayer, @bbcsport YouTube, and @bbcsounds.”

The former Everton striker, who also endured a tough stint at Birmingham City, seems to be taking a step back from the dugout after back-to-back struggles in management. Instead, Rooney is embracing the punditry path, offering fans fresh insights from one of English football’s biggest names.

In the opening episode, he wasted no time addressing criticism from NFL legend and minority Birmingham City owner Tom Brady, who had questioned his “work ethic” during his brief tenure at the club. With such candid takes already making headlines, Rooney’s podcast promises plenty of talking points in the weeks ahead.
