Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has vowed that Nigeria will not relent in their push to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their 1-1 draw against South Africa in Bloemfontein on Tuesday night.

The result dealt a blow to the three-time African champions, leaving them third in Group B with 11 points from eight matches. To stand a chance of securing a World Cup ticket, the Eagles must win their last two fixtures against Lesotho and Benin Republic.

Speaking after the game, Chelle admitted the task ahead is tough but expressed confidence in his players’ determination.

“My players are professionals, and I know they will give everything to win the remaining two matches,” he said. “A lot can still happen within the next month, but before then, we must carefully analyse our performance tonight, which won’t be easy.”

Nigeria will travel to face Lesotho in their next qualifier before wrapping up their campaign at home against the Squirrels of Benin Republic.
