Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable, has openly declared that in the 2027 general elections, he will support whichever political party or candidate offers him money first.
In a video posted on his Instagram page on Thursday, the street-pop star urged his fans to ensure they have their voter’s cards ready, stressing that he will endorse any candidate regardless of party affiliation who is willing to “help his life” financially.
“I can’t be campaigning around and be hungry,” he said. “My fans, hope your voter’s cards are ready? We will vote for whoever gives us money. I’m voting for anyone that can help my life. I own my life and my voter’s card. Bring the money and let me help my people; the people are hungry.
“If it is APC that brings the money first, they will own me. If PDP comes first, I will collect. Even if it is Peter Obi, I will ask you to vote for him. Vote for whoever gives you money. Vote for your helper,” Portable added.
This is not the first time the singer has stirred controversy with political statements. In 2024, he publicly criticised President Bola Tinubu for failing to offer him financial support despite his vocal backing during the 2023 presidential election.
