The office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has been officially unsealed by the National Assembly.
PUNCH Online gathered that the office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was reopened on Tuesday morning by the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, with the assistance of security personnel.
In a video shared online, Adedeji is seen removing the red seal from the office door, stating.
“I, Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director, Sergeant-at-Arms, hereby unseal the office. The office is hereby unsealed. Thank you.”
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s office had been sealed since March 6, 2025, following her suspension from the Senate.
The suspension, which lasted six months, was imposed after a heated protest by the senator on February 20 over the reassignment of her Senate seat by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
The Senate accused her of misconduct and barred her from participating in any activities of the 10th Senate.
Although the suspension officially ended in September 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan was unable to return to office due to ongoing legal battles and pushback from Senate leadership.
On July 4, the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that the Senate’s suspension was “excessive and unconstitutional.”
Despite this judgment, the National Assembly had previously declined her request to resume duties. It is currently unclear whether the unsealing of her office indicates full reinstatement or if further action from the Senate is pending.
It also remains uncertain whether Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan will join her colleagues when the Senate reconvenes on October 7.
