A devastating fire has destroyed the radio studio at Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State, resulting in the loss of equipment and property worth millions of naira.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, is believed to have been triggered by an electrical surge from the studio’s air-conditioning system.

Flames quickly engulfed the studio before emergency responders arrived, but swift intervention by the Oyo State Fire Service, led by PFS 11 Makinde, prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

According to the Chairman of the Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, the team was able to contain the blaze and save significant property, with no casualties reported.

Authorities have reiterated the importance of having accessible fire extinguishers and being trained in their use, especially in environments prone to electrical faults.

The fire at Ajayi Crowther University is the latest in a string of similar incidents in Oyo State, highlighting growing concerns over infrastructure safety and the effectiveness of fire prevention measures.
