The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has extended his congratulations to the Olubadan-designate, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, ahead of his coronation expressing confidence that Ibadan will witness remarkable growth under his leadership.
In a statement issued Thursday by his Press Secretary, Ibrahim Alli, Oba Akanbi described Ladoja as a “phenomenal personality” whose dynamism and extensive experience particularly as a former governor of Oyo State will enhance the traditional institution in Ibadan.
The monarch emphasized that Ladoja’s emergence marks a significant milestone, being the first former governor to ascend the throne as Olubadan.
“I congratulate the good people of Ibadan, especially the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja. His energy and rich experience will set his reign apart. I believe he will become one of the most impactful Olubadans in history,” the statement read.
Oba Akanbi also underscored the deep-rooted relationship between Iwo and Ibadan, noting that his maternal ancestry ties him directly to the city.
He praised the historic alliance between the two ancient Yoruba kingdoms, recalling that Iwo warriors were warmly received in Ibadan during past conflicts.
“My maternal roots trace back to Ibadan, and the bond between our two cities has endured through generations. We remain inseparably connected,” he added.
The Oluwo further commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support of traditional institutions, and urged both residents and natives of Ibadan to rally behind the incoming Olubadan to promote peace, unity, and development.
