The Lagos State Government has pledged support for media personality and entrepreneur Tacha Akide as she prepares to break the Guinness World Record for the highest number of cosmetic makeovers by a single person in 24 hours.
The challenge will headline the Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day event set for October 10–12, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History, Lagos. Tacha is aiming to complete 150 makeovers within 24 hours, a feat that would not only earn her a place in the Guinness World Records but also highlight Nigeria’s rapidly expanding beauty industry.
Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, described the attempt as a showcase of Nigerian creativity and global competitiveness.
“This is more than a record attempt; it is proof that Nigerian talent can thrive anywhere,” Aregbe said. “The Tacha Beauty Festival celebrates culture, empowers talent and creates opportunities. Lagos State is proud to support it.”
According to a Sunday statement, the festival will merge commerce, culture and creativity. Beyond the record-breaking challenge, it will feature workshops, masterclasses, vendor exhibitions, business development sessions and cultural displays aimed at boosting local enterprise in the beauty and lifestyle space.
Highlights include industry-led training in makeup, skincare, wellness and fashion, a vendor village for emerging brands and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs and creatives.
Tacha, a former reality TV star, said the record attempt represents Nigerian excellence and is meant to inspire young creatives to dream big.
The event comes as Nigerians continue to set global records. Only last week, Chef Hilda Baci earned a Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing 8,780kg (19,356 lb 9 oz), in a feat achieved in partnership with Gino on Victoria Island, Lagos.
Announcing her achievement on X (formerly Twitter), Baci wrote: “We have done it again #nigeria #hildabaci.”
