The Springtime Development Foundation (SDF) and Veronica Adeleke Empowerment Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Women Affairs, on Thursday empowered 500 women across all local government areas of Osun state.

At an event held in Ede, each of the beneficiaries went home with a sum ₦50,000 under the Veronica Adeleke Women Empowerment Scheme.

The initiative, named after the governor’s late mother, is aimed at boosting women’s businesses, reducing poverty, and strengthening family livelihoods across Osun communities.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Ayo Awolowo-Fadeyi, the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, commended the governor and other stakeholders for their support.

“I want to thank our government, the secretaries, senators, and particularly the Adeleke’s family for their fatherly support to the women of Osun. We’re truly happy and excited about what they’re doing for us. We pray that God will bless them,” she said.

Mrs. Oluwakemi Afolabi, wife of the Chairman of South Local Government, also praised Governor Adeleke’s efforts.

“I’d like to express my appreciation to the government, particularly Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, for his outstanding performance in Osun State. He’s doing a wonderful job, helping people in need, and providing support to those who have nothing. The assistance given to us today will greatly benefit our businesses and improve our families’ well-being,” she stated.

One of the beneficiaries, Adeyeye Aderonke Debora from Ilesha West Local Government, expressed joy over the cash support.

“We’re grateful to Governor Ademola for blessing us with N50,000 each in conjunction with organisers the programme. The money will be useful to us women because we’ve been taught how to farm in our compounds, making us self-sufficient for our children and ourselves. I thank the governor for this great opportunity,” she said.

The scheme, which cut across all local government areas in Osun State, is part of the governor’s wider drive to promote women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods for women and families.
