The Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of a woman, Iluyemi Bosede, for allegedly killing her elder sister, Tewogboye Omowumi, in Akure, the state capital.

According to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, the incident occurred on September 6, 2025, after a heated argument between the two sisters over N800.

Ayanlade explained that the quarrel escalated into physical confrontation, which allegedly led to the victim’s death.

He said,

“Preliminary investigation revealed that one Iluyemi Bosede approached her elder sister, Tewogboye Omowumi, aged 35 years, to demand the sum of N800, being payment for tomatoes and pepper earlier bought. What began as a minor disagreement, however, tragically escalated into violence when the suspect allegedly held onto the clothes of the victim, causing her to fall to the ground.

Sadly, despite being rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention, the victim was confirmed dead on arrival. This unfortunate outcome underscores how seemingly trivial disputes can spiral into irreversible consequences if not peacefully managed.

Following the incident, the suspect was promptly arrested and is currently in custody while the case remains under investigation.”

The police assured that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations in line with the law.
