Osun State Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi has declared an end to the internal crisis that recently rocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ife Federal Constituency.
Speaking with journalists after a stakeholders’ meeting at his Ile-Ife residence on Friday, Adewusi confirmed that party leaders had resolved their differences and reaffirmed their commitment to party unity.
On September 1, 39 PDP leaders in the constituency—including Commissioners Biyi Odunlade (Political Affairs) and Dipo Eluwole (Education)—had signed a communiqué expressing no confidence in Adewusi, former PDP National Secretary Prof. Wale Oladipo, and Ife East PDP Chairman Olasunkanmi Makinde.
The trio were accused of anti-party activities and maintaining ties with former lawmaker Bimbo Ajilesoro, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adewusi, however, dismissed concerns of a lasting rift “We’ve moved on. The PDP is united. Even the tongue and teeth sometimes clash, but reconciliation has been achieved,” he said.
“It was a storm in a teacup. The Devil tried to sow discord, but we won’t allow it.”
He noted that the resolution had the support of the senatorial chairman and other key stakeholders.
Olayiwola Famuyide, PDP leader for Osun East Central District, also praised Governor Ademola Adeleke for his swift intervention in resolving the matter.
At a separate reconciliation meeting involving Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader Lere Oyewumi, State PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi, and Commissioners’ Forum Chairman Ganiyu Olaoluwa, Governor Adeleke identified poor communication as the root of the conflict. He urged party leaders to stay united as they prepare for the 2026 elections and beyond.
