The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old school gateman, Josiah Ayomide, over the alleged rape of a four-year-old pupil in Ibadan.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, while briefing journalists at the police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, explained that on August 29, 2025, the victim complained of pains in her vagina to her elder sister. She later confided in her mother, revealing that the school gateman had unlawfully assaulted her while she was in school.
Osifeso said the suspect admitted to the crime after his arrest.
“The victim was taken to the Police Medical Clinic Eleyele, Ibadan, for a medical examination and treatment, and the medical report revealed that the hymen was not intact, tenderness around the vulva and vagina, with bruises.
The suspect will be prosecuted upon completion of an investigation.”
In a separate case, police operatives apprehended two men, Azeez Kolawole and Isah Fatai, in the Soka Sanyo area for stealing goats across Ibadan and its environs using a Toyota Matrix without a number plate.
According to Osifeso, the pair had previously been arrested and arraigned on two different occasions for similar offences. They reportedly confessed to the crimes, and investigations are ongoing to track down other members of their syndicate.
The command also confirmed the arrest of additional suspects involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, and vehicle hijacking.
