The family of veteran Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has debunked online rumours suggesting her only son, Ayomikun, died from a bathroom fall in the UK.
In an official statement issued on Friday by family spokesperson Yemi Amodu, the family clarified that Ayomikun passed away after a brief illness in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, and has already been laid to rest.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle… a jewel, a precious child, and a rising star,” the statement read.
“We wish to clearly state that Sola did not pass away due to a bathroom accident, contrary to circulating false reports. He was briefly ill and received first-class medical attention before passing away peacefully at a hospital in Ibadan.”
The family condemned the misinformation being shared online and urged the public to disregard such claims.
“These misleading stories dishonour his memory and cause undue pain to those who loved him,” Amodu added.
The statement concluded with a note of gratitude for the support the family has received and a prayer that no family should endure such a loss.
Earlier, PUNCH Online reported Ayomikun’s death on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with tributes pouring in from Nollywood stars and fans. Actress Biola Adebayo described the news as “devastating and heartbreaking”, praying for strength for Peju Ogunmola and her family.
