Arsenal defender William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2030, the Premier League side confirmed on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old French international’s previous deal was due to expire in 2027, but he has now committed his future to the Emirates despite links with Real Madrid.
Saliba joined Arsenal in 2019 and spent time on loan before establishing himself as a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s side during the 2022/23 season. Since then, he has been central to the Gunners’ defensive setup, helping them secure three consecutive second-place finishes in the Premier League.
Expressing his delight, Saliba said: “I feel at home here. We have a strong team, great staff, and a coach who is perfect for me. Every day I wear this shirt is a privilege, and I want to give even more to this club and our fans.”
Manager Mikel Arteta praised the defender’s growth and influence within the squad, stating: “William is loved by everyone at the club. His character, commitment, and attitude have been outstanding. He has embraced responsibility, built a strong bond with the supporters, and continues to develop as a leader.”
Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League table, just two points behind leaders Liverpool after six matches.
