Atalanta chief executive Luca Percassi says the club is eager to have Nigeria international Ademola Lookman back in the squad but insists the winger must first demonstrate total commitment to the team.
The Serie A side’s early season has been clouded by speculation over Lookman’s future after reports emerged that the 27-year-old tried to push through a summer move to league rivals Inter Milan.
Lookman, who missed two weeks of training during the transfer window, has yet to fully reclaim his spot in Ivan Juric’s side.
Speaking to journalists, Percassi acknowledged the forward’s talent but underlined the need for complete concentration from anyone representing the Bergamo club.
“We all know how good he is,” Percassi said. “But to play for Atalanta, you must be 100 per cent focused. When he’s ready, we’ll welcome him with open arms.”
The winger’s training attitude has reportedly raised concerns, with head coach Juric making it clear he will not plead for the player’s return to the matchday squad.
