Aderemi Oseni, the lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in Oyo State, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027 with at least 10 million votes from the South-West.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lagos on Thursday, Oseni who also chairs the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) criticized the opposition for failing to recognize the progress made under Tinubu’s administration, particularly in governance and infrastructure.
“As we approach 2027, I’ve established the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF), a non-ethnic coalition, to mobilize and deliver not less than 10 million votes for President Tinubu in the South-West,” he announced.
According to Oseni, ROCOF already has over 200,000 registered members dedicated to the development of Oyo State and committed to Tinubu’s re-election.
He emphasized the importance of increasing voter participation and noted efforts to boost voter registration.
“We’re aiming for at least 75% voter turnout in the South-West, compared to the 26.72% national turnout recorded in 2023. Our people will be educated on the importance of collecting their PVCs and voting,” he said.
Oseni also hinted at a possible bid for the Oyo State governorship, saying his decision would ultimately depend on the position of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The governorship isn’t a do-or-die affair. It requires careful strategy and party consensus. When the time is right, the party will decide,” he added.
On infrastructure, Oseni commended President Tinubu’s efforts, highlighting road rehabilitation and major federal projects across Nigeria.
“As FERMA committee chairman, I’ve visited nearly every state. We’re witnessing active rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads, including landmark projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway,” he noted.
He said the increased budgetary support for FERMA has enhanced the agency’s capacity to respond to road challenges, citing plans to rebuild the Ibadan-Ilesha-Akure-Benin highway as an example of improved national connectivity.
“This government is laying the foundation for a new Nigeria anchored on economic competitiveness, functional infrastructure, and effective governance,” he concluded.
