President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the family of the late Chief Audu Ogbeh to uphold the values that defined the former minister’s life and service to Nigeria.

Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, at Ogbeh’s burial in Otukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State on Friday, the President described the former Minister of Agriculture as a rare statesman whose contributions to Nigeria’s political development will remain indelible.

Ogbeh’s remains were interred at his country home in Efugo, Otukpa, at about 1:18 p.m.

In a tribute titled “Contributions of Chief Audu Ogbeh to the Political Development of Nigeria,” Tinubu highlighted the late politician’s humility, compassion, integrity and commitment to national unity.

“Chief Audu Ogbeh was a unifying personality who bridged divides and brought people together,” Tinubu said. “His impact on Nigerian politics and society will be felt for generations. As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the importance of leadership, integrity and service. May we strive to emulate his example in building a better Nigeria.”

The President recalled Ogbeh’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s democratic journey, noting his involvement as a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his tenure as the party’s National Chairman between 2001 and 2005, during which he skillfully navigated complex political issues.

He further acknowledged Ogbeh’s contributions to the formation of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and its eventual merger into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

“His legacy transcends party lines,” Tinubu added. “He was known for his intellectual depth, integrity and unwavering dedication to public service. He worked tirelessly for peace, unity and the progress of our country.”
