President Bola Tinubu has approved automatic employment for the four children of the late Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Grace Adayilo, who passed away recently.
The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, made the announcement on Saturday during Adayilo’s funeral service at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, where senior government officials, civil servants, family members and friends gathered to honour her memory.
Wike described Adayilo’s death as a painful loss to the FCT Administration, noting that she was a humble, dedicated and diligent public servant whose absence would be deeply felt.
“On behalf of the FCT Administration and Mr. President, I extend our heartfelt condolences to her family. The President has directed that the four children be given automatic employment, recognising that they have lost their breadwinner,” Wike said.
The minister praised Adayilo’s passion and professionalism, recalling her efforts to ensure prompt payment of salaries and entitlements for FCT workers. He added that she was also known for mobilising her community and supporting various civic initiatives.
Wike urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from her exemplary service, stressing that life is unpredictable and should be devoted to service to God and humanity.
Dr. Grace Adayilo, until her passing, served as the Head of Service of the FCT Administration. Colleagues and loved ones remembered her as a selfless leader, mother figure and an inspiration to many in both the public sector and her local community.
