Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen has completed a move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on a free transfer, the club confirmed on Wednesday evening. The deal runs until 2027.
The 33-year-old had been without a club since parting ways with Manchester United at the end of last season, when his contract expired.
Speaking on his latest move, Eriksen expressed excitement about the challenge ahead: “I’m really looking forward to this new adventure. I believe we can achieve something special here in Wolfsburg.”
This marks Eriksen’s third club since suffering a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2021 clash with Finland. Though he made a remarkable comeback with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), Italian regulations forced him to leave Inter Milan.
He revived his career during a short but impressive spell at Brentford in 2022 before joining Manchester United. Despite a bright start at Old Trafford, his influence waned under Erik ten Hag and later Ruben Amorim, eventually leading to his exit.
Eriksen, who also starred for Ajax and Tottenham in earlier years, remains one of Denmark’s most decorated players with 144 international caps and 46 goals.
At Wolfsburg, he joins a growing Danish contingent that already includes Joakim Maehle, Jesper Lindstrom, Andreas Skov Olsen, Jonas Wind, and Adam Daghim.
