Controversial Nigerian social media critic and activist, Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has announced plans to mobilise his supporters under the Ratel Movement for a nationwide community service initiative.
In a viral Facebook video on Wednesday, VDM revealed that the programme will kick off on Saturday, November 29, 2025, and will run monthly as a nationwide community sanitisation exercise.
He explained that the civic campaign is designed to combat environmental degradation and inspire patriotism among Nigerian youths.
“From the 29th of November, 2025, which falls on a Saturday, we the Ratel Movement are taking over Nigeria—we are shutting down this country,” VDM said.
He quickly clarified that the “shutdown” would be through positive impact, not violence.
VDM outlined the planned activities, which include cleaning public spaces, clearing drainages, rehabilitating school facilities, and engaging in other grassroots community services.
“We are about to begin something never seen before in Nigeria,” he declared. “It’s time to move beyond social media and show up physically as Ratels to make a real difference in our society.”
