The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office while rejecting alleged moves by Governor Caleb Mutfwang to defect to the ruling party.

The endorsement was made on Friday in Jos during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting attended by prominent APC leaders, including Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, former governors Joshua Dariye and Simon Lalong, former Minister of Women Affairs Pauline Tallen, serving and former lawmakers, local government chairmen, and party executives.

A motion to adopt President Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate was moved by former Acting Vice Chairman Festus Fuanter and seconded by Alice Dimlong, after which it received unanimous support.

The stakeholders also reaffirmed their commitment to reclaiming Plateau State in the 2027 elections, insisting that Governor Mutfwang was “sitting on a stolen mandate” and should not be allowed a second term under any platform.

As part of efforts to strengthen the party, the APC announced that it would officially welcome new members and returnees on October 30, with a committee led by Elder Pam Gyang coordinating the event.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Yilwatda praised the APC’s progress and growing influence nationwide, noting that the party has fulfilled over 45 percent of its campaign promises to Nigerians.

“APC gives voice to everyone. People are joining because the party is healthy, vibrant, and forward-looking. We’ll soon be welcoming more notable figures, including governors and federal lawmakers. Every week, APC will unveil world-class empowerment programmes. Let’s take advantage of them; the more, the merrier,” Yilwatda said.

In separate remarks, Senator Simon Lalong, Hon. Idris Wase, and Dame Pauline Tallen called for greater unity among party members to consolidate the APC’s position ahead of 2027.

Lalong urged stakeholders to “bury factional differences and tear down barriers,” stressing that “politics is local, and supporting the National Chairman and party leadership is key to victory.”

Plateau State APC Chairman, Rufus Bature, described the meeting as a vital step toward strengthening internal cohesion and grassroots mobilization. He urged members to “tighten their belts and work harder to justify the confidence President Tinubu has in Plateau State.”
