Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has expressed deep appreciation to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, for donating ₦20 million to her non-governmental organisation, the Golden Heart Foundation.
Martins made the announcement on Instagram, describing the generous contribution as a turnaround in her recent ordeal — from what she called “disgrace to grace.”
This follows her recent clash with officials from the Lagos State Government, whom she accused of harassing her while cooking and distributing free meals to the needy on a street median in Lekki.
According to her, the operatives from Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) disrupted her outreach, confiscated her cooking equipment, and caused her injuries from hot oil during the scuffle.
The Lagos State Government, however, defended the actions of its officials. Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stated that while the government supports charitable efforts, Martins violated environmental and traffic safety laws by conducting unauthorised cooking on a public road.
In response to the backlash and growing public support for the actress, Seyi Tinubu stepped in with a ₦20 million donation and pledged further support to expand her charity initiative.
“From the office of the President, our philanthropic youth leader, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, just supported my NGO with ₦20,000,000,” Martins wrote on Instagram. “He also promised to take my free food charity outreach to the next level.”
She also thanked her partner, Dr. Bea, and reaffirmed her commitment to continuing the foundation’s mission of feeding vulnerable Nigerians nationwide.
