The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced an ambitious plan to transform Nigeria’s political system, vowing to eliminate godfatherism, stamp out budget padding, and usher in a new era of transparent, citizen-focused governance.

In a statement titled “No Godfathers, No Budget Padding: How ADC Plans to Redesign Governance,” the party outlined its vision for a political culture rooted in accountability, innovation, and integrity.

Released via ADC Vanguard on X, the message signals a direct challenge to entrenched power structures and corrupt practices that have long plagued Nigerian politics.

“For too long, Nigerian politics has centered on personalities, not principles,” the statement read. “The ADC is not here to play the old game — we’re here to change the rules.”

The party’s governance model emphasizes budget integrity, with a commitment that the majority of public spending will benefit local communities.

A blockchain-based digital ledger will provide real-time transparency in public finances, while young Nigerians will be empowered to audit government projects through tech-driven platforms.

Performance evaluations for public officials will be based on measurable outcomes rather than political loyalty, and ordinary citizens will have access to governance data via public dashboards to ensure accountability.

The ADC also took aim at widespread budget manipulation, referencing reports that lawmakers inserted over ₦10.96 trillion in unauthorized allocations between 2021 and 2025.

Rejecting what it calls a “culture of political patronage,” the party positioned itself as a vehicle for a new social contract—one that prioritizes service over self-interest.

“This is governance redesigned — where competence replaces connections and transparency defeats corruption,” the party declared.

Concluding its message, the ADC made a direct appeal to Nigerians “The ADC isn’t asking Nigerians to dream about change — we’re building it, one transparent policy at a time.”
