Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has paid a condolence visit to Akinlalu town in Ife North Local Government Area following the killing of residents by operatives of the Amotekun Security Network.

The governor, who cut short his medical trip to the United States to commiserate with the people of Akinlalu, was accompanied by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye; members of the State Executive Council, and several lawmakers.

Governor Adeleke, while speaking at the palace of the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu, Oba Israel Oluwabusola Aborisade, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured residents that justice would be served.

“I am truly saddened by this tragedy. I cut short my medical stay abroad and came here directly upon arrival to sympathize with you,” the governor said. “The perpetrators will face the full wrath of the law. There will be no sacred cows. Any Amotekun officer required for interrogation must cooperate fully with the police investigation.”

Adeleke further revealed that arrests had been made by the police and directed the Chairman of the Amotekun Board, AIG Wale Abbas (Rtd.), to ensure full cooperation with ongoing investigations. He also urged residents to provide information on any operatives involved in the incident.

The governor commended the people of Akinlalu for maintaining peace despite the provocation, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to justice and development.

“We will compensate the families of the victims and construct a police station for Akinlalu as requested,” he promised. “Akinlalu is our town, and we will fast-track its development.”

In his remarks, the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu, Oba Aborisade, commended Governor Adeleke for his quick response and ongoing infrastructural projects in the town, appealing for swift justice for the victims.

“Your Excellency, we appreciate this visit. Please ensure those behind these killings are punished. We trust your leadership,” the monarch said.

The member representing Ife North State Constituency, Hon. Oyewusi Ireyode Akinyode, also applauded the people for their peaceful conduct and urged them to allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties without obstruction.

Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Akinyode, emphasized that while Amotekun remains vital to community policing, its officers must operate within the law.

Earlier, the youth leader of Akinlalu, Musbau Adeboye, thanked the governor for developmental projects, including the construction of the township road, and presented a position paper outlining the demands of the community. These included the suspension of key Amotekun officials, transparent investigation, adequate compensation for victims’ families, prevention of future security harassment, and the establishment of a police station in the town.
