The Leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has announced an ambitious immigration reform plan that aims to deport 150,000 illegal migrants each year, describing it as “the toughest set of border reforms Britain has ever seen.”
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Badenoch unveiled what she called the Radical Borders Plan, a comprehensive overhaul of the UK’s immigration and border enforcement system. The plan includes the creation of a new Removals Force, modeled after the United States’ Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to strengthen deportation and border control operations.
“My message is clear: if you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported,” Badenoch stated. “Our new Removals Force, modelled on US ICE, will deport 150,000 illegal migrants each year.”
Badenoch, known for her hardline stance on immigration, criticized successive Conservative and Labour governments for what she described as years of failure in managing migration.
“Successive governments have failed on immigration,” she said. “Labour promised to smash the gangs, yet in just a year they recorded over 50,000 illegal arrivals, 32,000 people in asylum hotels, and billions wasted. It’s pure weakness. Britain needs a serious, credible plan and the backbone to deliver it.”
Under her proposed reforms, asylum claims from illegal entrants would be banned, the Human Rights Act repealed, and the UK would withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Badenoch also pledged that all illegal arrivals would be deported within a week, with legal barriers to mass deportations removed. Additionally, visa sanctions would be imposed on countries that refuse to take back their citizens.
She added that the new enforcement agency would also target what she called the “asylum hotel racket,” aiming to save taxpayers billions of pounds and restore public confidence in the country’s border system.
“Only the Conservatives have a serious and credible plan to secure Britain’s borders,” Badenoch concluded. “If you come here illegally, you will be deported.”
