Barcelona are reportedly delighted with Marcus Rashford’s performances since joining on loan from Manchester United and are now considering activating his permanent transfer clause next summer.

Rashford joined the La Liga champions on loan in August amid mixed reactions from both clubs’ supporters. Initially viewed by Barca executives as a deal “too good to be true,” the 27-year-old has since silenced any doubts with his form and commitment.

The England international has scored three goals and provided five assists in ten appearances so far this season, with all contributions coming in his last seven games. His standout performance came in the Champions League, where he scored twice to help Barcelona defeat Newcastle United.

According to The Sun, Barcelona are ready to trigger the £30 million (€40m) clause in Rashford’s loan agreement, which includes a £25m fixed fee and £5m in add-ons. Club insiders reportedly view the price as a bargain, given the player’s resurgence in Spain.

Barcelona’s sporting leadership, led by Deco and manager Hansi Flick, are said to have been convinced by Rashford’s recent impact. Flick reportedly urged Deco to pursue the forward over the summer, saying:

“I told Deco, ‘Bring me Rashford, please.’ We needed a player like him.”

Rashford’s arrival at Camp Nou was not without risk. The England forward, capped 65 times, joined after a difficult spell at Manchester United, marked by inconsistent form and media scrutiny.

However, his attitude and performances have impressed Barca’s coaching staff. The Catalan club had initially feared United’s willingness to let him leave indicated potential off-field issues, but Rashford’s professionalism has won them over.

“Barcelona thought United were playing a game by letting him go. They feared something was wrong. His brother Dwaine convinced them there wasn’t and now they’re shocked they could sign him for such a bargain.”

Rashford’s strong form could make 2026 a career-defining year. The forward has the chance to win his first-ever league title and compete deep into the Champions League with Barcelona.

On the international stage, he is also aiming to secure his place in England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup under manager Thomas Tuchel. Rashford recently featured in England’s friendly win over Wales and is pushing for a starting role against Latvia in their next match.

If his performances continue at this level, Rashford’s temporary stay in Spain could turn into a long-term success story, the one that will redefines his career after a turbulent few years at Old Trafford.
