The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed allegations of signature forgery made by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The party maintained that Senator Anyanwu personally endorsed the official correspondence to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) notifying it of the forthcoming national convention.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, stated that the National Secretary signed several letters, including the one informing INEC of the party’s convention scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“He personally signed the letter to INEC in the presence of state governors, NWC members, and other key stakeholders,” Ologunagba said.
He explained that the documents were signed a few hours before the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on August 25.
Ologunagba added that the signing process was witnessed by prominent members of the party, including Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, former Minister of Special Duties Tanimu Turaki, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, among others.
The PDP spokesperson further noted that during the NEC meeting, Governor Bala Mohammed, who serves as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, confirmed that all official letters, including the one addressed to INEC, had been properly signed.
