The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, on Thursday led a delegation alongside Chief Adetunji Samuel Adebanjo, popularly known as Dr. Fish, to the palaces of the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, for royal recognition and invitation ahead of two major events in Osun State.

Dr. Fish, a renowned entrepreneur, is Nigeria’s leading fish farmer and the Chairman of Dr. Fish Radio, Dr. Fish Estate, and Dr. Fish Finance Company. He has empowered thousands of youths, supported widows, and contributed significantly to community development through projects in agriculture, infrastructure, and security.

The visit was part of activities preceding the commissioning of the ultra modern Iyeku Police Station, donated by Dr. Fish, which is scheduled to hold on October 24, 2025, in Iyeku, Osun State. The event will be followed by the installation of Dr. Fish as the Oluomo of Iyeku Land on December 26, 2025.

The royal meeting at the palace of the Timi of Ede was a warm reunion between Oba Munirudeen Lawal, who once lectured Dr. Fish during his time at Iree Polytechnic.

Speaking at the palace, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, said the courtesy visit was aimed at honoring traditional institutions and strengthening ties for community development.

He expressed appreciation to the Timi for his fatherly role and blessings, assuring him of the command’s commitment to sustaining peace and order in the state.

Dr. Fish, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the monarch, describing the occasion as a homecoming and a reminder of his humble beginnings.

“Kabiyesi, you remain a father and mentor to me, I learned under your guidance the importance of entrepreneurship, risk taking, and good statistics, lessons that shaped my life and success today,”he said.

He announced plans to extend Dr. Fish Radio to Osun State next year to reduce unemployment and promote education, adding that a program for police officers’ wives, aimed at teaching income generating fish processing skills, will be launched on November 30, 2025.

Dr. Fish further revealed that his company would continue to invest in infrastructure and human capital.

“We are committed to giving back to our home, every successful person must remember their roots. I built the police station not just for security but as a sign of love for my people,” he added.

In his royal response, the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, expressed gratitude to God for the gathering and commended Dr. Fish for his generosity and vision.

“Nigeria is a good place, but for our youth to fulfill their destiny, they must live right and avoid destructive habits. I encourage Dr. Fish to continue being a light to young people. The sky is your limit,”the monarch said.

At Ile-Ife, the team was warmly received by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who described the visit as an honor and a sign of unity between traditional and security institutions.

Speaking during the visit, CP Gotan commended Dr. Fish for his outstanding contributions to national development, especially in youth empowerment and security.

“Dr. Fish has built modern facilities for law enforcement and trained several officers and their families, he is a philanthropist and an example of how private citizens can complement government efforts in security and empowerment,” the CP said.

Dr. Fish, in his remarks, expressed deep respect for the Ooni and thanked him for his spiritual leadership across Yoruba land.

In his response, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, lauded Dr. Fish for his remarkable achievements and expressed delight over his forthcoming installation as the Oluomo of Iyeku Land.

The monarch also offered special prayers for Dr. Fish and his entourage, as well as for peace and progress in Osun State and Nigeria.
