The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah is reportedly preparing to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) next week.
The development was disclosed in Abuja on Friday by APC National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda and the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South-East), Chief Emma Eneukwu.
According to the party leaders, Mbah’s planned defection was made public during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Enugu State APC caretaker committee, led by former state chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, held at the party’s national headquarters.
Governor Mbah is expected to officially announce his move to the APC at a special event to be held in Enugu next week.
Confirming the development, Nwoye said the governor would be joining the APC along with his political appointees.
There are also reports that Agbu Kefas of Taraba and Duoye Diri of Bayelsa may soon follow suit and defect to the ruling party.
