The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Jarrett Tenebe, has declared that any commissioner barred from attending State Executive Council meetings for failing to wear the ‘Asiwaju cap’ as directed by Governor Monday Okpebholo will be suspended from the party.

Governor Okpebholo had earlier mandated that all commissioners wear the branded cap, symbolizing loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, during Executive Council sessions.

Speaking during a recent television interview, Tenebe described any refusal to comply as an act of indiscipline and insubordination,” stressing that the party would not tolerate disloyalty from its members.

“If you refuse to wear the cap as the governor has directed, we will suspend you. That is indiscipline and insubordination,” he said.

Tenebe explained that the directive aligns with the party’s commitment to deliver 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu in future elections.

“If you’re an APC member who holds a political appointment, you’re expected to be loyal to the President. Wearing the cap is a sign of that loyalty. Those complaining are not true APC members. In Edo, we’ve made it clear, no Asiwaju cap, no Exco,” he added.

Governor Okpebholo, on October 14, had instructed newly sworn-in commissioners and members of boards and commissions to demonstrate loyalty to President Tinubu through their attire.

He emphasized that the President’s support played a key role in his electoral success and warned that any commissioner who failed to comply would be barred from future Executive Council meetings.
