Liverpool manager Arne Slot has called on fans to create an electric atmosphere at Anfield when the Reds face off against arch-rivals Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League clash.

Speaking ahead of the much-anticipated encounter, Slot said he’s fully aware of how special the fixture is, it is not just for the club, but for football fans around the world.

“I look forward to every Premier League game,” Slot told reporters. “But the Manchester United match is always something extra. I experienced it last season, and it’s one of the biggest games on the planet. It’s truly special to be part of it.”

Despite United’s current 10th-place standing in the Premier League table, the Liverpool boss warned that Rúben Amorim’s side have performed far better than their position suggests.

“In my opinion, United have started the season stronger than the table shows,” he added. “That’s why we’ll need to be at our absolute best.”

Slot also praised Liverpool supporters, describing them as a vital part of the team’s strength, especially as the Reds look to bounce back from a difficult run of results.

“Our fans have always been incredible, even before I arrived,” Slot said. “The team has lost three games in a row, so we know how important their support will be. I’m sure they’ll be right behind us again on Sunday.”

The highly anticipated clash between Liverpool and Manchester United takes place at Anfield, with both teams eager to make a statement early in the 2025/26 Premier League season.
