Former Vice President, Namadi Sambo has been formally turbaned as the Sardaunan Zazzau by the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Bamalli. The coronation ceremony took place on Saturday at the Emir’s palace in Zaria.

In his remarks, Emir Bamalli explained that the traditional title had initially been conferred on Sambo in 2014 by his predecessor, the late Emir Shehu Idris, but the official ceremony was delayed until now.

The Emir described the honour as a recognition of Sambo’s exemplary leadership, service to the nation, and commitment to humanitarian causes. He expressed confidence that the former Vice President would continue to promote peace, unity, and progress within the Zazzau Emirate and across Nigeria.

“We pray that he will remain a bridge builder between the Zazzau Emirate and his wide network of friends and associates,” Bamalli said.

The event drew an array of dignitaries, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, serving and former state governors, as well as traditional rulers, religious leaders, government officials and political figures.

Sambo’s public appearance at the ceremony marked a notable return to the political and social scene, as he later attended a PDP stakeholders’ meeting following the coronation.
