The Gombe State Police Command has launched an investigation into a violent incident involving grievous bodily harm and arson in Bojude community, Kwami Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed that a 16-year-old girl accused a 28-year-old man, Lukman Musa, of having unlawful carnal knowledge of her at his residence.

Reacting to the allegation, the victim’s father, Mr. Samuel Doka, allegedly attacked the suspect and inflicted a deep cut on his head.

Abdullahi explained, “In reaction to the allegation, Mr. Doka reportedly took the law into his own hands and attacked the suspect, inflicting a deep cut wound on his head.”

Following the attack, an angry mob reportedly stormed Doka’s home and set it on fire. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded in the incident.

“Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Bojude Division, swiftly responded. The injured suspect was promptly evacuated to Cottage Hospital, Bojude, for medical attention, while Mr. Doka and his family were rescued and taken to the police station for safe custody,” the PPRO said.

According to Arewa PUNCH, “the situation escalated when an irate mob set fire to Doka’s residence. Fortunately, no lives were lost during the incident.

“The police swiftly responded to the situation, evacuating the injured suspect to Cottage Hospital, Bojude, for medical attention. Doka and his family were rescued and taken to the police station for safe custody.”

DSP Abdullahi, quoting the Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya, urged residents to remain law-abiding.

“We appeal to members of the public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their hands. We reaffirm our commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served,” he stated.
