…APC calls on EFCC to investigate, Govt says nothing like such

An alleged N300m embezzlement scandal involving an unnamed female Permanent Secretary in Osun State Government is currently creating unrest within the state.

It was gathered that the scandal first started in August this year but was secretly resolved following the intervention of some powerful persons with the government.

Sources told InsightMedia that the issue allegedly led to temporary suspension of the official before the a deal was reached.

Commenting on the scandal, the All Progressives Congress called on berated the government for covering up the alleged embezzlement, insisting that the said official be handed over to anti-graft agency.

A statement by Kola Olabisi, Director of Media of the Osun APC said the matter was covered because the official is a wife of a cabinet member.

Olabisi said, “Information has it that some of the political functionaries have been taking an undue advantage of the administrative hollowness of the governor to loot their ministries and work stations.

“We demand: what could have been the reason for the Adeleke administration, which professes, even though falsely, accountability and rule of law to be shielding a female Permanent Secretary who was caught to have embezzled over N300 million government fund?

“A government that claims to be above board would not make the corruption issue against the indicted Permanent Secretary a discreet affair with an arrangement for her to be repaying the verifiably stolen state government money.

“Why is the government afraid to prosecute the indicted Permanent Secretary by the way of handling her to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC)?” The APC queried.

The opposition party implored the police and the EFCC to move in without further delay with a view to doing instant justice to the sleaze said to have been perpetrated by wife of one of the prominent serving commissioners in the state.

Reacting to the APC statement, Spokesperson to Governor Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed dismissed the said scandal.

He said the APC was manufacturing lies and fake news to distract the people of the state.

“Beer parlour gossip elevated to the level of party propaganda cannot white wash a badly battered opposition like the APC. No amount of fake news can change the reality that APC and its aspirants are unelectable as far 2026 election is concerned”, Mallam Rasheed was quoted as saying.

“We deny the allegation as a reprehensible lie from pit of hell. Governor Adeleke is a transparent and open governance leader who has never and will never tolerate corruption nor shield any official if such misdemeneur ever exist”, he concluded.
