The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police Nkechi Eze as the first Director of the newly created Directorate of Force Medical Services.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the appointment followed the recent upgrade of the Police Medical Section to a full-fledged directorate, aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery for police personnel nationwide.

Egbetokun congratulated Eze on her appointment and encouraged her to apply her professional and administrative expertise to make the new directorate a model of excellence in police healthcare services.

According to the statement, Eze is a distinguished clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator with over 27 years of exemplary service in the Nigeria Police Force.

“Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and hailing from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, AIG Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Benin,” the statement noted.

“Her career spans multiple police formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she has contributed significantly to improving police medical services and officers’ welfare”.

Egbetokun described the establishment of the Directorate of Force Medical Services as a strategic investment in the health and productivity of police officers, noting that their well-being is vital to the operational efficiency of the Force.
