The Lagos State Government has re-arraigned notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, before the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, over the alleged murder of two police officers.
Evans and his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, appeared before Justice A.O. Ogala on Monday, where they were charged with a five-count indictment bordering on murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
The re-arraignment marks yet another chapter in Evans’ long-running criminal trials. The convicted kidnapper is currently facing five separate cases involving kidnapping and murder, and has already been convicted in two of those cases.
Evans, who gained national notoriety for leading a multi-billion naira kidnap syndicate, was first arrested in 2017 after years of evading security operatives.
