A man identified as Ghenero has been reportedly stabbed to death by another man following a dispute over a business debt in the Iyara area of Delta State.

According to a police source, the incident occurred on the night of October 12 after the deceased had a disagreement with an acquaintance who accused him of withholding money from a business transaction.

The source explained that the suspect, accompanied by a friend, visited Ghenero’s residence to demand repayment. However, the confrontation soon escalated into a physical fight, during which the victim was stabbed.

“The incident happened on the night of October 12. A man called his friend to attack Ghenero because of a certain business they had together in which his share was not given to him. They went to his place, and while asking for the money, the confrontation led to a fight, and Ghenero was stabbed in the process,” the source disclosed.

The police source added that the suspects fled immediately after the attack, noting that the dispute appeared to be connected to an internet-based business.

A social media user, Leen Thomas, also shed light on the matter in a Facebook post seen on Tuesday.

“One of them is a member of the Vikings confraternity, while the other belongs to the Jew confraternity. The clash started over a money-related dispute. The Jew member had an issue with the Baggar and sought help from members of the Eiye group to fight, without explaining what had actually happened,” he wrote.

A video circulating online showed the deceased lying in a pool of blood on the floor.

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a text message.

“Confirmed. Investigation is ongoing,” he stated.

This killing adds to a disturbing trend of cult-related violence and money-linked clashes in parts of Delta State, where minor disputes often escalate into deadly attacks.

Earlier, on October 9, another suspected cult attack claimed the life of a teenager identified as Rama in the Ibusa area of the state.
