President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The nomination, announced in a letter sent to the Senate for confirmation, was confirmed in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Dr. Doro’s nomination comes after Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, emerged as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.

He began his political career as an active community leader and politician with experience both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, where he lived for many years.

Dr Doro is currently serving as the Financial Secretary of the APC UK chapter, a position he has held since June 2024.

He was also part of the organising committee for the Nigerian Diaspora Investment & Cultural Summit 2024, held in Birmingham from December 4 to 7, 2024.

Although unconfirmed, there are speculations that he may contest for the Plateau North Senatorial seat in 2027, but he has yet to make any official declaration.

Dr. Doro is highly educated professional with degrees in Pharmacy, Law, and an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy. He also holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice.

He is an independent prescriber and advanced clinical practitioner, with experience across urgent care units, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospitals in the UK.

Beyond his medical career, Doro is passionate about youth mentorship and community development, both in Nigeria and among the diaspora.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mortgage Brokers and Lenders of Nigeria and a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (UK).

Outside politics and his professional work, Dr. Doro has made his mark as a humanitarian.

He founded the Doro Vision Farmers’ Seed Fund, a scheme created to empower farmers in Plateau North by providing financial support and resources to improve crop production.

In recognition of his service to humanity, he received the Award of Excellence and Humanitarian Service from the Asiwaju Nationwide Organisation on October 11, 2025.

Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro was born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
