A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has lamented that his children have been unable to secure jobs in Nigeria because of his name.

Speaking during a programme on Nigeria Info FM 99.3, the former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP decried the worsening economic hardship in the country, saying hunger and frustration have reached alarming levels.

“Today in Nigeria, there’s hunger and anger everywhere,” George said. “Forget about me being in the PDP; what really matters is the situation at the base of the pyramid. What have we done to make life better for ordinary Nigerians?”

He described the level of youth unemployment as distressing, noting that both graduates and non-graduates are struggling to survive.

“Graduates are floating with no future or hope, while those without formal education have nothing to do,” he added. “I’ve suggested that the President should establish a special fund to empower unskilled youths and provide microcredit to young graduates who want to start small businesses.”

Commenting on recent initiatives, George faulted the First Lady’s call for donations to build a national library, arguing that such funds should be sourced transparently and used for developmental purposes.

“That fund should have been raised by the President himself, asking those who donated billions to banks to contribute responsibly through proper management,” he said.

The PDP stalwart also revealed that his own children, despite being well-educated, have been unable to find employment in the country.

“My children graduated a long time ago and have returned home, but they can’t find jobs because their surname is Bode George,” he lamented.
