Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on Nigerians not to lose hope amid the country’s current challenges.
In his message marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Jonathan encouraged citizens to remain optimistic and continue believing in the nation’s potential for greatness.
The statement, released on Wednesday by his media adviser, Okechukwu Eze, emphasized the need for reflection and unity.
“Though we face serious issues ranging from insecurity to economic inequality and underperforming institutions we must not let these challenges erode our hope,” Jonathan said.
He added that Nigeria remains blessed with vast land, rich natural resources, and a resilient, creative population.
“Our culture, knowledge, and ingenuity continue to shine both at home and around the world,” he noted.
Jonathan urged citizens to act with patriotism and maintain faith in the country’s future.
“Let us remain united and steadfast. The greatness of Nigeria is within our reach if we stand together with purpose and optimism. May our nation continue to grow in strength and vision.”
Meanwhile, the Federal Government earlier this week cancelled the traditional Independence Day parade, previously scheduled for October 1st, as earlier reported by PUNCH Online.
