Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dismissed rumours of a rift between him and his mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, insisting their bond remains unbreakable.

Speaking on Tuesday in Madobi at an event to mark Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday, Yusuf reaffirmed his loyalty to the former governor and the Kwankwasiyya political movement.

“Those trying to cause division between me and our leader, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will not succeed,” he said. “We will continue to follow the principles of the Kwankwasiyya movement because Kwankwaso is a God-sent leader.”

Yusuf also prayed for Kwankwaso’s long life and good health, praising him as a visionary guiding the progress of Kano State.

Earlier this year, there were speculations of internal tensions following the emergence of a group known as “Abba Tsaya da Kafarka” (Abba, Stand on Your Feet), reportedly led by former officials Dr. Baffa Bichi and Alhaji Salisu Digol.

The group was believed to be pushing for more autonomy for the governor, raising concerns over a possible split with Kwankwaso.

However, Yusuf’s latest remarks appear to quell those rumours, reinforcing his commitment to Kwankwaso’s leadership and the continued strength of their political alliance under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
